What 1-1 academic support is

Most 1-1 academic support, in the private market, is bought as time. Hourly tutoring: the practitioner shows up, works on what's most pressing, and the work between sessions is largely left to the student and family. What's distinctive here is that the time itself is the smaller part of what's purchased. Around every session sits the Eigenstate Method — a structured curriculum and progression system built across more than a decade of teaching — and a layer of infrastructure built so the work continues to compound even when Dave isn't in the room. It starts with an Onboarding Diagnostic that maps a student's starting position before the first session. It runs through the Eigenstate Method's structured progression — the Levels system in Maths, and a parallel structure of model essays and past-paper progression in Economics — both giving students meaningful work to do independently between sessions. And it lands every month in a Monthly Parent Progress Report — a single document, sent each month, that pulls the student's work, progress, and trajectory into one place. Families don't buy hours of help. They buy a structured, multi-year engagement around the long arc of academic development.

Who This Programme Is Designed For

1-1 academic support of this depth works best for a specific profile of student. Three things matter for fit.

Who this works best for

Sixth Form presents a unique set of academic and psychological demands. Students studying the same subjects, at the same stage, face similar assessments, pressures, and decisions.

By working with a tightly aligned cohort, group sessions remain directly relevant, standards remain high, and shared systems compound more effectively. This alignment allows depth without dilution and ensures that time and attention are focused where they matter most.

The Academic Support Relationship

Rectangle 34624531.png

This programme extends far beyond lesson time

“My role is to act as an academic mentor and performance strategist — guiding planning, reviewing progress, identifying bottlenecks, and supporting students in developing the habits and judgement required for consistent high-level performance.”

The relationship is ongoing and intentional, focused on trajectory
rather than short-term fixes

“He progressed from an E in his mock exams to an A in his A level exams.”
Dave has been tutoring my son for A level Economics, he is dedicated and excellent tutor. In a very short space of time my son has grown in confidence and his grades improved tremendously! He progressed from an E in his mock exams to an A in his A level exams. I can't thank Dave enough and would highly recommend him.

“As a result he is now predicted A* grades in both A level subjects”
We cannot recommend Dave highly enough. He has increased our son's natural interest in Economics whilst the impact on his Maths has been incredible. His confidence has increased immeasurably based on now understanding the principles that sit behind the subject. As a result he is now predicted A* grades in both A level subjects and is looking at university options he previously felt were out of his reach. Thank you Dave!!

“My son’s academic performance improved by 4 grade boundaries in both A-Level Maths and Economics”
Dave has perfected the art of improving his student’s academic performance while helping them become well-rounded, organised, and less-stressed learners with a deep enjoyment of their subject. Both my children find Dave’s lessons informative, invigorating, and uplifting, they even request extra lessons with him during the school holidays! My son’s academic performance improved by 4 grade boundaries in both A-Level Maths and Economics while working with Dave, opening university options we previously thought were out of reach.

“Dave helped both my boys achieve the grades they needed to get into top universities”
I used Dave to help both my sons with A level Economics and have no hesitation in recommending him. All 3 of us got on well with him and my sons clearly enjoyed and benefited from the online sessions. Dave knows the A level subject matter inside out and was able to communicate the technical content logically and effectively. He clearly loves teaching and brims with enthusiasm for the subject which is infectious.

“If you are looking for a turnaround approach then look no further than Dave Bell.”
Despite the unprecedented chaos of 2020 my son achieved a well deserved Grade A. This is a truly and outstanding achievement as my son’s prior performance in pre-mock examinations was C/D. If you are looking for a turnaround approach then look no further than Dave Bell.

Selectivity and Capacity

This programme is intentionally limited in size. Meaningful mentorship requires attention, judgment, and sustained involvement over time.

For this reason, only a small number of students are accepted into each Sixth Form cohort. The depth of access, level of personal oversight, and long-term nature of the mentorship mean this is a high-commitment programme — academically, logistically, and financially.

Quality depends on constraint. This selectivity ensures each student receives the focus and structure required for consistent, high-level performance

Access and Next Steps

The next cohort begins in September 2026. Families interested in being considered are invited to join the waitlist. All applications are reviewed personally, and places are offered selectively based on fit and alignment.
